Tiger Woods- New Media

Tiger Woods was chased out of his house by his wife because she thinks he was cheating on her. He got into his car and she continued to chase him down the driveway until he ran into the fire hydrant and a tree at the end of the driveway. Woods had scratches on his face and was dazed when policemen showed up after the call came in. His wife, Elin Nordegren, is saying that she heard the crash from inside the house and grabbed a golf club on her way out to break the window so Tiger could get out.
The media needs to leave this story alone. This is there personal and social lives at risk and nobody needs to know what exactly happened except the government and Woods wife. I think that the media gets into celebrities personal lives way too much. The celebrities need to stick up for themselves and tell the media to leave them alone or something. It gets very old to hear about all of these cheating scandals and everything else.

Black Friday- New Media Blog

Every year, the day after Thanksgiving is crazy everywhere you go. Black Friday brings so many people out before the sun even rises to shop for bargains. This year people shopped more for bargains and spent less than they did last year. On average people will have spent 8 percent less per person than last year. Thats about 343 dollars on each person. It's not just Friday, but Saturday and Sunday are also included in on the 343 dollars. The National Retail Federation said that shoppers were very willing to open their wallets for a bargain. I was one of those shoppers but I was not one of them that got up before the sun to shop for those bargains.

Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots- New Media Blog

On Nov. 15, 2009, the battle of quarterbacks is going to occur. Peyton Manning from the Colts has lead his team undefeated through ten weeks. Tom Brady is coming back from missing all of last season to an ACL tear and is now back on track. His team has only two lossed on the season and still leads their division. The Colts have yet to lose on the road and the Patriots have yet to lose at home where the game will be played. Some people have picked the Patriost to win this game because they have home field advantage but I still think Manning will come through for his team and lead them to another victory. Brady is a very good quarteback but I just think that Manning has a better defense to back him up. Both offenses are equally good with awesome wide recievers and running backs that can also catch the ball. This game will be the game of the season.

Soldiers Body Found- New Media

Two soldiers last week went missing in western Afghanistan after they went out to retrieve airdropped supplies at the river. They believe that Benjamin Sherman jumped into the river to save another soldier, who got swept away from the river's current. The second paratrooper is still missing, but military divers found Sherman. The first few days of the search, fighting had broken out with militants in the area. No American soldiers were killed but some were wounded. I think what Benjamin Sherman did was a very brave thing and many people will never forget that. That lets us know that we have great men and women fighting for our freedom. It makes me feel very safe and I pray for those men and women every day so that they can come home safely. They have been fighting for our country for years and now I think it is time for them to come home. Enough blood has been shed!

"This Is It"- New Media Blog

The recent number one movie is "This Is It," which is about Micheal Jackson's last moments before he passed away. It's about Jackson and the last weeks of his life while rehearsing for his 50 concerts in London. It came out in theaters on Wednesday, October 28th and the first five days it was out, it made 101 million dollars at the box office. The first weekend it was out it earned 21.3 million dollars. Originally, the movie was supposed to be out in theaters for just two weeks, but the success of the movie in the first five days is giving Sony no choice but to extend it through Thanksgiving weekend. When the movie is taken out of theaters, it is expected to be number one on the all-time music documentaries.

Dixie State Volleyball Photo Essay- New Media

Before the game even started, Dixie State students came early to support the volleyball team. The sign says “Welcome to Dixie State. Home of the hottest team in the conference.” They held this up during the national anthem.

Alex Shearer spikes the ball between two blockers in the first game. Dixie State won the point to become one point under BYU-Hawaii at 8 to 9.

A frustrating coach in the third game, Gregg Jensen called a timeout to talk with his team. Dixie State came back and won the next three points.

Dixie State comes together in the third game after losing a couple points in a row. They came back to win the game and set the match at two games to one.

The match is tied two games each team. Alex Shearer spikes the ball down while Chelsi DeWitt is in defensive stance just in case the ball is blocked. Dixie State won the point. The game is now at 4 to 6 BYU-Hawaii.

Kayley Poglajen watches her team as they are down by five points in the fifth game. The fans are there till the end supporting the volleyball team.

More Soldiers Killed- New Media #5

Eight more United State soldiers were killed on Saturday near the Pakistan border. Officials have told reporters that it was one of the deadliest assaults on the U.S. in the past year and one of the fiercest battles in the eight-year war. More and more soldiers die each day when it is not needed. The terrorist attacks occured 8 years ago and it has been dragging on way too long. Although there were many enemy casualties, there were eight to many U.S. casualties. The United States army used heavy artillery during the battle. This war seriously just needs to end and all of our troops need to come home for good. There are families losing loved ones each day and even though there fighting for our freedom and country, some troops have been there to long and deserve to come home. These families need their fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, daughters, sons, and relatives to come home.

4,000 Troops Coming Home Soon- New Media #4

By the end of October there should be 4,000 more troops coming home. The six-year war is winding down slowly as the year goes by. Right now there are 120,000 troops still in Iraq and there will be fewer in the next month. I think that is a great thing that more and more troops are coming home. What I hate though is how slow the ending is taking. There are ways to remove soldiers out at the same time in large groups. Its really not that hard. There could be reasons hidden that its going slowly but there's still 120,000 soldiers and everybody is wanting them to come home. The transition could go by faster but I'm glad its happening.

Design Presentation

I've found two different movie posters that differ in color, balance, contrast, and rule of thirds. The movie poster for Watchmen used the rule of thirds perfectly. On the sides of the poster there are buildings that have a lot of color to them and in the middle is a guy walking down the street. Its raining also so the street is wet so the colorful buildings are reflecting on the street. The picture has great balance throughout the whole thing. It makes me want to see the movie because it looks like a very cool movie. The rules of thirds is being used perfectly because the buildings on the left, the man in the middle with the street, and then more buildings on the right. The rain gives the poster more balance also. The color of the buildings show a lot of contrast. It has bright and dark colors in it. There are also lines that show that the man is walking away down the street. The buildings are also showing shapes with the windows and there are lines all over the poster.
Now, the Duplicity movie poster has zero color to it and only uses the center of the poster. Unlike the poster for Watchmen, this one shows who the actors are in the movie and even though they are famous, I would never rent this movie because the movie poster is just boring. I like Julia Roberts and Clive Owen, but it just looks stupid.

Closing of U.S. Military Prison in Iraq- New Media #2

Thousands of detainees will either be released or transferred to Iraqi custody by the end of the year. It has held the most dangerous men not only to Iraq but also internationally. I think this is a great thing to do because it could mean that the United States is really pulling out of Iraq slowly. There are many reasons that it could be closing. One thing I don't like about it is that they arrested dangerous men and put them in there, so if they release those men and not transfer them, they could continue to be dangerous to those around them. The Iraqi people felt safe because they were put away in this military prison and now that its closing down, there could be a negative to it. I just hope that nothing comes back to haunt the United States because they released someone that shouldn't have.

Vick Helping Out- New Media #1

Every time Micheal Vick is tackled in the game against Washington October 26, 5 bags of dog food is donated to a local animal shelter. I think this is a great way for Vick to give back to the community for his animal cruelty years ago. He deserved what he got after what he did. Animals should be treated just as equal as humans. Now that he is out of prison though, I don't think he should be allowed to play football anymore. I think his punishment should continue and not allowing him to play would be the best way. Players are not allowed to play if tested positive for drugs, but if they are involved in animal cruelty, they can play. I think that's ridiculous and I'm totally against him playing. I will never watch a game he plays in.

Contrast Lab Assignment

The Canam picture of the blue eyes on the animal is a great contrast picture because of the blue eyes. It brings you to them as soon as you look at the picture. I'm not sure what type of animal it is but it looks like a wolf. The white fur with the black spot on top gives it good texture. Since the rest of the picture is just black and white and blue is the only bright color in it, the color contrast is perfect. The shape of the eyes are perfectly oval also.
